Cotton Mens
Silk or cotton?
They each have their advantages. Real silk sheets feels so wonderful against your skin. The problem with real silk sheets is that they are so expensive, and they are very hard to find. There are a lot of products on the market that say that they are silk sheets, when in fact they are a man-made material instead of silk. Real silk sheets run in the hundreds of dollars, because silk is not an inexpensive product. If I had a set of real silk sheets, I would only use them for special occasions, maybe only pulling them out of the closet once a year for my anniversary or something similar.
Cotton, on the other hand, can feel much like silk against your skin, but it does not have the expense associated with silk. Cotton is also a natural product, not man-made, and made from renewable resources. If you get a high thread count cotton sheet, it can feel an awful lot like silk. The higher the thread count, the silkier the feel.
As far as durability, cotton also far outweighs silk. Cotton can be thrown in the washer and the dryer numerous times without ever losing its shape, or its texture. Silk on the other hand, must be hand washed and line dried. While I wouldn’t mind doing that for an item that I used once a year, I would certainly not want to do that on an item that I used every day.
So when it comes to picking sheets, how do you choose between cotton and silk? For me the choice is simple. I will have one set of beautiful, sexy, silky, sheets in my cupboard for the special occasion, but for everyday wear I choose cotton. And most specifically, I choose Egyptian cotton, because Egyptian cotton is even more durable and beautiful and long-lasting than regular cotton. Because Egyptian cotton is a long fiber cotton you do not get the pilling that comes from regular cotton, and when your fabrics don’t pill they stay smooth and silky.
So no matter which you choose, silk sheets or cotton sheets, it is mainly a matter of choice. If you are feeling luxurious bring out the silk, but for everyday wear, durability, and style, bring out the cotton. No matter which you choose, I hope you’ll let me help you make your choice.
