More and more countries nowadays mint gold coins and their utility is clearly reflected in the investment transactions. One of the most beautiful gold coins in the world is the Chinese Panda gold coin. The name says everything about it. The Chinese chose the panda bear on the reverse of the coin because according to their legends, human beings evolved from these animals. The obverse of the coin presents the Hall of Prayer for Abundant Harvests in the Temple of Heaven. This is a temple built in the 1400`s. The legend says that the Chinese emperor was considered to be the Son of Heaven. He lived in the Forbidden City, but twice a year, the tradition asked him to leave the city and go to the temple in order to pray for good harvests. Nowadays, this temple is included in the UNESCO World Heritage.

Turning the coin on the other side, the adorable panda bears welcome us with a funny look, while they are eating their favorite meal, the bamboo. The coin appeared under this concept in 1982 when it was introduced on the investment market. It existed from 1967, but the coin became more interesting for the collectors world wide since they introduced the image of the panda. Another curiosity which really pleased the collectors is related to the image of the panda. Each year, they chose a different one. Thanks to this idea, the coins reveal the frolics of the bear searching for some food, eating it or relaxing. The only year when the panda bear did not receive a new reverse face was in 2002. From 2004, a second bear appeared to keep company to the already well known one.

The coin may be delivered in five forms, with different sizes, starting from one ounce, the largest one, and then half of it (½ ounce), a quarter (1/4 ounce) and a smaller one (1/10 ounce). The smallest one was introduced in 1983 and its size was 1/20 ounce this time.

These small ones found their utility in the fashion industry. Taking into account that the coin is 99.9% pure gold, a lot of ladies bought the small coins in order to wear them as pendants or even bracelets. The craftsmen thought of beautiful rings in a design which includes the coin.
